Web-footed Sheep Substitutes: For those who don't have regular access to sheep, herding training may be done utilizing ducks.

More information about cattle can be found on The Cattle Pages; resources regarding sheep are at The Sheep Home Page and Sheep@Purdue.  The University of California, Davis, provides information in their Animal Care Series about caring for sheep, goats, beef cattle and dairy cattle. Understanding livestock behavior is an important aspect of herding. Although this site is not specifically about herding, it provides valuable insight into handling animals.
